Repairs of Two Lime Kilns in Moravian Sugar Factories

In recent weeks, we successfully completed repairs of two lime kilns at sugar factories in Moravia. The technical condition of the kilns showed that the originally planned application of a protective refractory shotcrete layer would not be sufficient. In some areas, a complete rebuild of the working lining was required, while in others it was necessary to replace parts of the insulation layer as well.

The original linings were historically constructed from fireclay materials containing 40% Al₂O₃. During the repairs, these materials were replaced with modern magnesia-based products, which provide higher resistance and a longer service life under the operating conditions of lime kilns.

The effectiveness of this solution is also confirmed by operating experience from 2024, when we carried out a complete relining of one lime kiln using a new combination of insulation materials and magnesia bricks. After more than one year of operation, the lining remains in excellent condition and requires no repairs, only routine sealing of the upper expansion joint.

This project once again demonstrated that proper lining design, the right choice of materials, and precise execution have a significant impact on the reliability and service life of industrial equipment.

We would like to thank our team for their professional work under demanding conditions and our customers for their continued trust.
